Audio Recording Session Today with John Basil

Marketing plans for Will Power: How to Act Shakespeare in 21 Days (Applause Books, September 2006) are being put into motion. What a joy when there's enough time to get the infrastructure together before the book hits the shelves! John and I are creating three websites with distinct purposes that celebrate him (teaching, directing, speaking engagements), the book, and ancillary products (audios and eBooks, for instance).

Today's recording session is for the purpose of producing a one-hour interview of John on CD teaching his signature course material "The 7 C's of Acting." These principles are: Commitment, Concentration, Conditioning, Control, Confidence, Courage, and Clarity. The CD's will be sold for a modest price online and at John's events, and will also be used as a promotional giveaway to readers who purchase a quantity of three or more books. An announcement will be made when the time is right.

Donna LeBlanc Teleseminar Now Posted

My one-hour interview with Donna LeBlanc "Let Your Passion Guide Your Success" went off without a hitch. She shared insights on five passion "signatures" that are ways people use their personal energy--how they think, feel, and behave in recognizable patterns. We talked about the fears that commonly hold writers back from productivity and publishing success. We also talked about the highest potential of each signature, and what motivates them to create and contribute. I loved when Donna explained that we can know we're in our passion because we feel satisfied and that the world rewards us for creating from this state with prosperity. Donna is the author of The Passion Principle (HCI, 2006).

Anyone who missed the call can now download it from the Resources for Writers page on my website. Check back periodically as something new has frequently been posted.

Five Segments of "The Writer's Workout" to Air on ITV

Went into the ITV studio last night with my friend Ashok Vyas to prepare several five-minute editorials for viewers who enjoy creative writing. They'll air on Friday afternoons between 2:00 and 2:30 PM on cable channel 77 (viewable in Brooklyn and Queens) starting on July 7.

Topics include:
* The Joy of Creative Writing
* Squeezing Writing into Your Busy Schedule
* Writers Support Groups
* Where Good Ideas Come from
* Overcoming Creative Blocks

So, if you saw a woman streaking down Central Park South towards the R-Train last night with heavy black eye makeup on... it was me! (PS I like this look on myself.) I learned a ton about talking through the camera to the audience and had a blast.

I really, really want people to love writing as much as I do. It's a fantastic dimension of my life. Maybe this show and others like it--radio and TV, personal appearances and phone calls--will convey the message.

Your Passion Guides Your Success as an Author

Life has the potential at every turn to be fulfilling, surprising, joyous, and pleasurable. It is within our power--in fact it is our birthright--to live every day with incredible passion and a true sense of purpose. The secret is to learn how to recognize and break the patterns that keep us stuck and recycling the same stale moments throughout our lives. This is the key to transforming our relationships and having fresh, exuberant experiences, and leading lives full of meaning and vibrant possibility.

Join me on a free phone call Tuesday, June 27, 2006 (8 PM eastern time/5 PM western time) as I interview spiritual psychotherapist Donna LeBlanc, author of The Passion Principle: Discover Your Passion Principle and the Secrets to Deeper Relationships in Love, Life and Work (Health Communications Inc., 2006).

Are you the Visionary, the Warrior, the Lover, the Creator, or the Prophet? Your answer determines what unleashes your passion, how to deal with your fears, and how to succeed in relationships and in the workplace. For we all have an evolved side and a survival side. The trick of managing our energy for success is to learn the special "opening formulas" of each archetype that we can use to shift our state from survival to growth in as little as a heartbeat.

A Secret of Manifestation?

Stepping out of our ordinary reality--as we do, for example, by traveling in a foreign country--enables us to escape our self-established mental limitations. That's an important ability. When we are able to admit to ourselves, first of all, that we have blindspots, we have made a beginning in opening up to a different view of things. Although it doesn't automatically remove the obstacles and solve problems, this does give us at least a hint of possibility that we can perhaps have access to something new in our lives--that we move beyond the limitations spontaneously. It occurs to me that a secret of manifestation is to be in an open and uncommitted mindset for a period of time long enough that it allows something to emerge from new perceptions and information that arise in consciousness. Sages surely have recognized this for millennia, but every person nonetheless must learn it for himself or herself. Stepping out of our habitual path and behvior patterns by choice or by necessity gives us a chance to experieice this phenomenon and then we know that we can create it also. We go from spontaneity to being in charge of spontaneity. More on this later. It's a simple musing. I guess I am on a search now for something that can lead me to a richer creative process. I want to establish a deeper layer in my work.

New Book Launched: Creating Your Birth Plan

Landed safely yesterday in Tel Aviv. Was greeted at the airport by my dear friend Dana, which made me a little teary. It is such a lovely feeling to be picked up and taken care of. She and her husband Yoav are terrific hosts, they are teaching me how to say wonderful sentences like, Ï came here to learn how to walk on water."(I wanted a way to impress the people in the Galilee when I get there in a few days.) We ate a delicious meal by the Mediterranean last night, as I was woozy with jetlag. And I häve fallen in love with their 11-month old baby Elia.

My newsletter went out yesterday on schedule. To get on that list go to www.stephaniegunning.com. There was an announcement of my new book Creating Your Birth Plan, which I coauthored with former World Health Organization maternity services director Marsden Wagner (www.marsdenwagner.com). The book hit the shelves yesterday. More on that topic later as MW makes appearances in various locations.

Tomorrow I leave for two weeks in Israel. I wanted to launch this new blog before arriving there so I could share my discoveries and musings with my friends, family, colleagues, clients, and other constituents while I'm on the road.

When I come home, I'll be finishing up recording an audio program called Partner with Your Publisher: How Not to Feel @#%*!ed When Your Book Comes Out, which I'll launch off my website www.StephanieGunning.com, and I'll be taping five TV editorials on creative writing for ITV (Channel 77 in NYC). Both projects have pushed the envelope beyond my past creative endeavors. As I move forward, I plan to share my emotional and mental creative process with this blog's readership. Hopefully, some of you can benefit from my experience and model.

I wish you well!
